Keeping Our Community Healthy During COVID-19
With the news of the COVID-19 virus beginning to spread in the US, we’d like to let you know what we’re doing at The Yoga Room to help keep our students and staff as healthy as possible.
At the beginning of each shift, we’re sanitizing all frequently used hard surfaces including all door handles, our front desk and front counter, bathroom faucets and sinks, toilet handles, thermostats, radios and remote controls, keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
We’ve removed eye pillows from our classrooms, since they’re used on the face, and we’re sanitizing our blocks daily.
For the time being, our teachers will avoid teaching any pranayama practices that require students to touch their faces (for example, alternate nostril breathing) and they’ll avoid teaching any postures that require students to put their face on a prop.
As an extra precaution, teachers will encourage students to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer after class.
All of our staff has been encouraged to stay home and rest if they feel ill.
And here are some added tips to keep yourself and our community healthy:
If you’re ill, please stay home and rest.
Consider bringing your own props.
Consider bringing a pillowcase or two to cover our props, then wash your pillowcase(s) when you get home.
Wash your hands well and frequently, especially after being in public places.
Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
If you’re immunocompromised, practice yoga from home using videos from our YouTube Channel. (Like and subscribe to our channel to be notified when we post new videos.)
We look forward to seeing you soon!
