Get the Most Out of Triangle Pose
You know that blissed-out ahhhh feeling you experience after a good yoga class? Do you know what causes it? It's a combination of things: good breathing, good focus, good alignment, and a good practice. If you regularly attend classes with a teacher whose style you enjoy, you're already on the right track. With time, practice, and the guidance of your favorite teacher, your breathing, focus, and alignment will get better and better, and you'll experience more of that meditative, blissed-out feeling.
I've had the honor of watching hundreds of yoga students grow from absolute beginners to consistently practicing yogis. And in yoga, we try to maintain a "beginner's mind" and always strive to learn more.
With that in mind, this is the first in a series of posts about alignment, or more specifically, misalignment. I'm going to address some of the common misalignments I see in my classes, in the hope that helping you perfect your alignment will help you deepen your practice and the benefits you gain from your practice.
Whether you are a beginner or a practiced yogi, the material I cover in this series can be useful to you. Even if you've been practicing a long time, there may always exist an opportunity for refinement.
My intention is that this investigation will serve you two ways:
- It will instruct you in proper alignment which you can begin to use right away.
- It will provide a theme on which you can focus your mind during your practice, thus enhancing your ability to meditate.
So without further ado, let's check out Triangle Pose (Trikonasana).
I'm eager to hear if this little video was helpful for you. Please click over to our blog and let me know if you learned anything new from it, and also please let me know which pose you'd like me to spotlight next time. I look forward to hearing from you!
