If lately it feels like you’ve been doing too much, this workshop offers a chance to practice doing less.

In this two-hour workshop, Jan will guide you through a few gentle movements to help you arrive in your body, followed by a quiet sequence of fully supported Restorative Yoga poses designed to reduce unnecessary effort and create the conditions for rest.

Using bolsters, blankets, blocks, and other yoga props (that are supplied by the studio), the body is carefully supported so there is less to hold and less to do. With that support, there is time to settle, notice sensation and breath, and allow the experience to unfold without needing to make anything happen.

And if your mind stays busy, that’s okay. Restorative Yoga is not about forcing yourself to relax or trying to stop your thoughts. You’ll be invited to return to simple sensations such as the weight of your body on the mat, the support beneath you, and the movement of your breath.

You’ll leave with the experience of slowing down and being supported, along with a few simple Restorative Yoga practices you can use at home.

Registration is limited to 10 participants to allow time for personal attention and individualized support. If getting down to and up from the floor is difficult for you, please email us to reserve one of our cushioned platforms. These platforms allow you to practice comfortably in a supported lying position without having to get all the way down onto the floor.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You’ve been feeling tired or depleted in a way that ordinary rest does not seem to touch.

  • Rest sounds good, but slowing down or settling does not always come easily.

  • Your body feels as though it is holding, bracing, or working harder than it needs to.

  • You want a quiet, supported way to practice doing less.

About Jan

Jan is an experienced yoga teacher and certified yoga therapist who helps adults move, rest, and feel more at ease in their bodies.

Her work includes Restorative Yoga, therapeutic movement, and practices that support balance, confidence, and greater ease in daily life. Jan has completed advanced Restorative Yoga training with Judith Hanson Lasater and has assisted in her training programs.

Jan’s teaching is clear, supportive, and easy to follow. She invites students to notice what they feel, use support when it is helpful, and explore movement and rest with curiosity rather than judgment.

You’ll always be encouraged to move at your own pace and in a way that feels appropriate for your body.

A Note from Jan

“I love sharing Restorative Yoga because the poses offer the body a kind of support we rarely give ourselves. As you settle into that support, less effort is needed. There is time to breathe, to notice, and to experience what begins to change when you’re no longer asking so much of yourself.”
