Traditionally, yoga was designed to be a health and wellness practice that was accessible to people of all ages, with all kinds of bodies. Our distinctive 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program is based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya. In it, you’ll learn how to practice and teach traditional yoga that is inclusive and accessible for every body.

The Krishnamacharya tradition is the oldest of the modern styles of yoga, and it is unique in that:

  • Mindfulness is integrated in the practice through the relationship between breath and movement

  • It is a comprehensive tradition that truly addresses the health of the body, mind, and spirit

  • The teachings are directly linked with the ancient yoga philosophy texts

  • The instruction (postures, breathing, meditation, etc.) is offered in a way that is comfortable, accessible, and beneficial for the student

This program is designed for sincere yoga students who are interested in deepening their understanding of yoga and who may or may not be interested in teaching. Yoga Teacher Training inevitably brings about deep personal reflection and growth - your purpose and goals may change throughout the program, and that is perfectly ok.

You will learn:

  • How to deepen your personal practice

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Classical āsana sequences in the Krishnamacharya tradition

  • Āsana simplifications, intensifications, and contraindications

  • How to make yoga inclusive and accessible

  • How to design a yoga practice

  • Introduction to prenatal and postnatal yoga

  • Classical prānāyāma (breathing) techniques

  • Yoga history and philosophy

  • Introduction to Ayurveda

  • Best practices for teaching yoga in person and online

  • Business and ethics for yoga teachers

  • And much more

Round Rock Yoga’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program is based on the Krishnamacharya tradition of yoga, as learned by studio founder Zelinda at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, TN, India.

The Krishnamacharya tradition emphasizes the value of the relationship between the student and the teacher. Our small class size of 15 students allows us to get to know each student personally. If you are ready to deepen your study of yoga, we recommend applying early to secure your spot.

What Our Students Say

  • "I attended yoga teacher training at Round Rock Yoga a few years ago. My goal was to learn more about the practice of yoga, and boy did I! Zelinda encouraged a very tight-knit feel for our group of trainees which helped all of us learn in a more in-depth way. I had not planned to necessarily become a yoga teacher, but, between the student teaching requirement and how our training covered the business side of being a yoga teacher, it felt so easy to begin teaching. Choosing the 200 hour yoga training from Round Rock Yoga was one of the easiest choices I’ve had in my life. I’m so glad I chose this path!"
