Yoga THERAPY

Yoga Therapy is customized, one-on-one yoga instruction designed to address one or more specific health and wellness concerns. It utilizes the tools of yoga (postures, breathing, meditation, and philosophy) and the wisdom of Ayurveda (an ancient Indian system for maintaining good health), to improve your health, wellness, and quality of life.

Yoga Therapy can help with all kinds of concerns - from “small” issues that we tend to accept as “just part of life,” like anxiety, insomnia, and constipation, to bigger issues like migraines, osteoporosis, and PCOS.

Yoga Therapy takes into consideration the whole person, including food habits, quality of sleep, and activity, and can be used as a form of self-care or as a complement to Western healthcare.

What To Expect

Yoga Therapy begins with an in-depth discussion about your goals and concerns, as well as an assessment of your current physical condition. Based on this information, Zelinda will create a draft of your customized yoga practice and teach you each sequence. Every part of your yoga practice is meant to be accessible and comfortable, so as you learn each sequence, Zelinda will verify that it is correct and appropriate.

Once the practice is finalized, you’ll receive a printed/printable copy so that you can practice independently. For best results, you should do your yoga practice daily, or at a minimum, most days of the week. If you’d like, Zelinda can also recommend adjustments to Ahara (food and eating) and Vihara (lifestyle), based on Ayurveda, to support your goals.

In subsequent sessions Zelinda will make adjustments to your personalized practice based on your progress and feedback.

The first 2-3 sessions are typically scheduled closer together to insure you make a positive start. Later sessions are scheduled every 3-4 weeks. Zelinda will be happy to suggest a good schedule for your sessions.

All sessions are approximately 50 minutes long.

Pricing

With consistent practice, students will typically begin to experience changes and benefits within the first 1-2 sessions. During sessions 3-4, more benefits are gained as knowledge and self-awareness continue to increase. New healthy habits become well-established by sessions 5-6. Depending upon your goals and consistency of practice, more sessions may be required or desired.
