Hello friend,
I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and well. I miss our TYR community more and more as the days have turned into weeks and months.
As much as we'd love to see everyone face to face, we continue to make the difficult choice to remain apart, in an effort to prioritize the health and safety of our teachers and students, and the Round Rock community at large.
We haven't talked about it much, but we believe it would be awkward (and perhaps even counterproductive) to practice yoga (which is so focused on good breathing) with a mask on, and the risk of being in close quarters inside the studio without masks is too great. We'd so hate to be the cause of a cluster in our beloved community!
We're very grateful to be able to remain connected via our online classes, and if you haven't yet practiced with us online, we'd love to see you!
On a more personal note, I wonder how you've been navigating during the pandemic? Are you practicing yoga or some other form of self-care to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy? Is the stress wearing on you? Or are you doing fine?
My own experience has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Having my kids home all summer and trying to find activities that didn't involve being on a screen, while also trying to maintain my home and work, has been pretty exhausting. We did manage to take a few trips in our camper, which helped our mental health a lot. But generally I found that my yoga practice suffered and I'm looking forward to getting back on track now that my kids have started (distance learning) school.
And speaking of getting back on track, I'd like to let you know that starting Monday I'll be doing 21 days of live (free) yoga practice on our YouTube channel. I'll do my own personal 15-20 minute practice, including a bit of guidance and coaching so that you can participate too, followed by about 5-10 minutes of discussion. You'll be able to submit questions and comments and I can respond. If we keep each other accountable, we're more likely to be successful!
